I had a bed sheet which I knew that I am not going to use and 1/2 meter of silk scrap that I used for making the border. You can use a decorative fabric for the backing and it will then become a double sided Mat.
You will need
- 3 meter of thick silk or curtain fabric
- 1/2 meter silk
- threads to match
Directions
- Cut the main fabric 17 by 14 and also cut the same fabric for the back so that it can be reversible
- If you want another design you can have another design at the back
- For the binding, first cut the fabric on the grain 2 inch wide and keep joining the strips to make a continuous length, pin two short edges with right side together for all the strips and make a ribbon else simple just get a ribbon
- Sew the main fabric with the backing and make it a sandwich . You should first do straight stitch by hand and then do the machine stitch.
